“Sauce Swagg” from CrestIsMuzik is a fresh, hip and fun single that has positive vibe and will make any club jump with clever lyrics and sound that will get most people moving without them even realizing it.
CrestIsMuzik is one of five siblings born into a musically talented family from the Windy City of Chicago. Growing up, he always looked up to his older brothers and their ability to lay down flows and write catchy lyrics. One of his brothers gave him the stage name CrestIsMuzik because his natural talent as a rapper was “fresh.” And from that day forward CrestIsMusik has been making waves throughout the industry.
Today he makes his home in Chicago, where he spends most of his time either in the studio or in places around the city that bring him inspiration. And the hard work and dedication he puts into his craft is paying off with a slew of new singles that he’s set to release over the next few months.
Most of the new singles showcase his exploration of his Jamaican roots (his mother is Jamaican), and nod to the single that helped him evolve from straight hip-hop and R&B into a more Reggae vibe – “Start a New Wave.” It was the first song that put him on the map in a lot of clubs and dance halls along the West Coast, and it was the first song that opened his eyes to the true power he has as a musician. So today he taps into that power by exploring all genres of music, but staying true to his Jamaican heritage all along the way – whether he’s creating a pop song, EDM, or hip-hop.
“I’m a 90s baby and because of that I got all the good music growing up,” Crest said of his first influences. “My family is all musical people, as well, and they taught me to put melodies and harmonies in my music. If you put colors and harmonies and melodies into a song, you can feel who that person is holistically. And that’s what I want to do with my music. I want to focus on touching the inner person – the soul – and getting through to the minds and hearts of people.”
“Most of my songs elaborate on a lot of stuff I’ve been through,” he said. “It’s not just a catchy hook and a bunch of rap. My music changes people’s lives and affects them in good ways. I do have a catchy hook, but it comes with deep lyrics. I’m putting an impact on people. I’m like the guy who just came out of the barber with a fresh haircut – you’re always wanting to look at it because you’re proud of it and you want to get your picture taken. That’s kind of like me with my music. Any real artist will tell you that once they finish a song they’re in love with it because they’ve created something that wasn’t there before and they want to share it with the world.”
