Edward Bernard Ponton Jr. (Cockycuz) was born in Miami, Fl to his mother Shynita Ponton and father Edward Bernard Ponton, he grew up in the midst of two worlds; his growing passion for singing and dealing with the harsh realities of growing up in the inner city. Ed attended Miami Jackson Senior High before he transferred to West Lake High School in Atlanta, GA. Ed grew up in a close-knit family environment where Birthday parties became house parties and he was able to showcase his budding vocals. His songwriting, vibrant arrangements, and smooth delivery have placed him on the radar of industry heavyweights such as Cool and Dre, DJ Nasty, DJ Rhymer and a host of others.
Ed started his career early on, performing for the likes of Betty Wright and Usher at the mere age of 10. During that time he wowed listeners with his vocal range as he would belt out Michael Jackson tunes with precision and accuracy. Since then, Ed has matured into a modern-day Trap/Soul singer and he released his first single Ungrateful (2018), followed up by his new single Sweet Love (2019) after signing with Miami based independent label Aries Musick Group. Ed’s edgy and seductive lyrics on top of vibrant production has helped him grow a following on SoundCloud and has helped him catch the attention of the blog site Teatenders. His online presence continues to grow thanks to the success of his latest release Sweet Love (2019).
