Da Real EKG – Elevator @kingofthadot

Da Real EKG is definitely going up. If not by the zeal of his Dothan, Alabama delivery; then certainly by the pull of his recent release, “Elevator”. Nearly three minutes of high-class, top floor music— “Elevator” features two, slick verses from the Southern spitter and a succulent chorus from Breana Marin. Within the first few seconds of this record, golden chords will attract you; enveloped by a faint, yet heavenly vocal that fades in and out of the mix. Effortlessly, Breanna slips into this bath of harmonies, crooning phenomenally through lyrics that celebrate this song’s central subject: rising unstoppably to the top.

For such, Da Real EKG’s verses are marvelous compliments. The Yellowhammer rapper, rhyming with a charm that only the South can conjure, adds a fitting spin to the record— detailing his myriad encounters with women, in the midst of his luxurious lifestyle. “Elevator”, by these two elements, becomes a sensual joyride. One where nothing matters but the rise, and whomever you’re enjoying it with. Looking for a smooth, playa’ love-song? Look no further than the latest from Da Real EKG.

Somedaysoon – Strangers @wyattk914

With his new track “Strangers”, Somedaysoon paints a picture of a reflection of thoughts of indecisiveness and struggle in a sour relationship and the time crunch to make changes before the whole thing falls through. A blend of R&B and alternative, “Strangers” is a piece consisting of smooth, soaring falsetto vocals over a mixture of hard hitting 808s bleeding into real bass guitar and static synths.

Born Wyatt Kunevicius (aka Somedaysoon) and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Wyatt began playing guitar when he was 9 on a fluke of breaking his foot. Rather than just a time-killer for the time being, it ignited a passion for the creation of music that has stuck with him ever since. With the guitar being his main instrument, he notes that he was always attracted to a lot of rock and metal bands from an early age (Pantera, Mo Lowda, Erra, Brand New). While the music that he makes now comes from a more hip-hop and R & B oriented style, he still finds that he takes a lot of inspiration from bands like these even today.

Playing in a couple different alternative bands in high school, Wyatt claims that he always felt that something was missing even though he loved the music and the people he played with.

Eventually his love for guitar led him down the road of production, mixing, mastering, etc., and this has definitely helped him to stand out because he produces and mixes every track that he’s on.

Nadia Vaeh – Heavy @nadiavaeh

Nadia Vaeh weighs in on her latest single, “Heavy”:

I wrote “Heavy” from a very light place actually. It was a way to break the cycle of the silly relationship game myself and ex-lover had created. I sent him the song and he actually loved it… I think it helped us both come to terms with our romance just not being in the cards.

A native of Atlanta with an American mother and a Lebanese father, Nadia Vaeh found her way into artistry through modeling and joining a local Atlanta circus. She started singing in their productions, but this was not the beginning of her artistic roots.

Nadia’s love of music and singing began at the age of two and was nurtured by her parents by placing her into a traveling youth-choir. Her mother was a poet and passed on her love of words, which later lent to fuel her as a lyricist. Nadia lost her mom to suicide at the age of 17, which shifted the course of the young artist.

She dismantled her high-school band and strayed from song writing and singing for years, other than the occasional karaoke. After this tragic loss, she states that she went down a path of self-sabotage and destruction and used relationships and partying to ignore her pain. When she finally decided to begin again with artistry, she was a shell of a person and looking to anyone and anything for answers to deal with her heartbreak. “I made a lot of missteps when I first began my career and had to learn a lot of things the hard way.”

With her endless resilience she has grown into a performer, has had her music recently played on international radio, and is looking forward to sharing more of her music here in the US and around the world.

She has written well over 100 songs born from the things she’s experienced – to her songwriting is not only personally healing, but is also a platform to help others heal and make waves with social matters. Having written in several genres, her fascination lies with pop because; as she put it, “You can tell a story and create even more movement with that story through catchy lyrics and melodies”.

Yungin Yu – Westbrook @yungxnyu

0

After local success on his single “SeaTac”, Yungin Yu drops his 4th single “Westbrook” on August 9th to SoundCloud. The single pays homage to the Houston Rocket’s newly acquired point guard, Russell Westbrook. With a mixture of melodies and autotune, Yu’s intentions for the track were a carefree, summer single that listeners could bump to. The track was produced by the up and coming producer, Dopelord Mike.

Yungin Yu is a 20-year-old artist from Seattle, WA, who came onto the local scene earlier this year. Yu began writing music at the age of 13 after listening to Chance The Rapper’s ???? ???? mixtape. His other inspirations vary from older artists such as Elton John, Nelly, Michael Jackson, and Usher, to new wave artists like Jay Critch, PnB Rock, Bryson Tiller, and Drake. Taking from his inspirations, the style of music Yu wants to achieve is a combination of catchy melodies and lyricism. From the new wave west coast sounds accompioned by a melodic flow inspired by the east coast, Yungin Yu hopes to create his own waves in the music world.
