Karma Rivera – A Game @KARMARIVERA

Portland, Oregon’s rap princess Karma Rivera is all business on the field as seen in her PHVZES directed flick, “A Game”.

Last summer, Rivera released her debut EP, Don’t Sleep on This, and in the past year, she’s opened for nationally touring artists, including CupcakKe, Princess Nokia, Chief Keef, Xavier Wulf and Snow tha Product. Karma Rivera has become a staple of the Portland hip-hop scene and is one of the best rappers to be all-but-ignored by the industry-at-large, from a city with a rap community that has not yet fully quite made it onto the map despite being overrun with talented artists, including rap acts like Aminé.

In life and art, Rivera gets directly to the point. She’s as quick to note problems as she is to reward listeners for their devotion—a greatly appreciated trait in a city like Portland that leans on passive aggression. Rivera knows who she is, and is determined to stay rooted in that knowledge, especially if larger music markets ask her to change.

The teddyc x yeoj produced “Causin’ Issues” is an upbeat example of what DOCK hELLISH has cooked up on the “TEDDYHELLISH” project. He wanted to give a taste of the new summertime sounds and tease the project a bit. All 8 of it’s tracks are all produced by @teddyyc1 with some collabs from the members of his internet collective, @IcedOutAngels (ex. @ihateyeoj).

Dock Hellish is an underground trap artist from the “973” area code of Northern NJ. There always seems to be a new collaboration Dock is working on with other up-and-coming artists, so don’t be surprised if you see his name on one of your favorite underground rappers pages! With multiple SXSW 2019 performances under his belt, you can most likely expect his name on show flyers this year too. Familiarize yourself with this enigmatic, self-proclaimed “trap rockstar” if you are interested in something new or just different. Expect lots of experimental sounds and aesthetics that always seem to be pulled off just the right way.

Cosey – DoItRight @Cosegod

0

Cosey has been capable of releasing bangers like “West End” and “Robbery”, but on “DoItRight” he decided to slow things down. Over a smooth soul sample Cosey harmonizes and paints a wonderful picture of love and attraction. Reminiscent of self-proclaimed inspiration Mac Miller, a cool drive downtown with “DoItRight” in the background makes for an amazing time with the one you love.

19 years-old. Ruthlessly repping the 847, Cosey is a young fire-spitting artist from the Chicagoland Area. Sonically compared to XXXTENTACION and Jaden Smith, but himself would say he doesn’t sound like anyone. With the talent to create a multitude of sounds ranging from club bangers, to stepping music for the barbecue, to heartfelt vivid images that you listen to in your room.

Taking inspiration from many artist like Saba, Mick Jenkins, and Kendrick Lamar, Cosey has found his own lane to create art. A poet and passionate writer at heart, you can sometimes catch Cosey at Young Chicago Authors inspiring the younger generation with words of wisdom.
