Born in Montgomery, Alabama J.Steph has always been different. Although growing up in an area dominated by trap music, he found his early influences in the likes of Dom Kennedy, Drake and Vince Staples. At the age of 14 he found his passion for music after seeing a friend make beats. Later on, he downloaded Fruity Loops and began making beats for his classmates.

Next, J.Steph changed his focus to being a self taught audio engineer. It wasn’t until age 17 that he began rapping consistently. During this time, he began building a following for himself by performing at local parties and functions. Also, he expressed an interest in modeling and has been in a fashion show and preparing for more. Now at age 18, he is determined to make a wave in the music scene. Through the use of versatile flows, repetitive hooks and off the wall production, J.Steph has been crafting his signature style.
