Jayaire Woods – 4 Walls @jayairewoods @StanLane39

“4 Walls” is the first single off of “Woodside Lane”, a collaborative EP by Jayaire Woods and Stan Lane. Stan’s soulful and lush production provide a backdrop for Jayaire to reflect on his journey into adulthood – as a man and an artist. This track is instantly catchy because of Jayaire’s ability to effortlessly traverse between melody and rapping, but the reason listeners will return to the track is his genuine spirit and resonant message.

Jayaire Woods is from Bellwood, Illinois (aka Woodside), outside of Chicago. His music is soulful and the themes of his songs are universal – hometowns, lost love, striving to grow as a person and artist, and finding beauty in everyday things. All four of his projects are cohesive, lush, and critically acclaimed by various industry publications. Lawrence Neil of Passion of The Weiss described Jayaire’s style as, “representative of an unpretentiousness that’s deeply refreshing amongst hip-hop’s omnipresent flexing”, and that his songwriting is, “deeply attuned to the sonic quality of words that makes a listening experience unconsciously delicious”. Jayaire is currently gearing up to release his fifth project, “Life is Grand” due in spring 2019.

Stan Lane is a hip-hop producer from Northern California. He started by playing around on Fruity Loops so his college basketball teammates would have beats to freestyle to. As he honed his technique his love for making music grew and he began making 5-10 beats a day, often staying up late into the night after work. Stan got his first placement on Lil B’s cult classic mixtape “White Flame” and his first gold record on the titular track to Lil Dicky’s album “Professional Rapper” (feat. Snoop Dogg). Stan’s beats are diverse and multi-faceted, highlighting the range of his influences, but typified by dramatic bass and snapping drums. His artistic inspirations are Kanye West, Dipset, and Dennis Rodman.

Kaimera – Wasteman @6Slumlord

“Wasteman” is one of Kaimera’s older tracks. It’s been remastered and re-released countless times in order to really perfect the sound. Here we can hear his distinct, relaxed voice and unique flows perfectly mixed in with more modern production from his mysterious producer, SSV2.

At 18 years old, hip hop artist and East Van local Kaimera is carving out his own spot in the music world. With an upbringing wrought with demons, his music takes up the bits and pieces that were chipped off of him growing up. With a distinct relaxed voice and darker production, his soundscape is one you would hear both as an anthem to the streets and the tones you’d hear at the depths of hell. With a more upbeat sound coming from tracks like “Wasteman” to a more evil and grimier piece such as “Horns Over Halos”, his versatility has only barely been shown and many will see that his ability to song write is much greater than it seems. Currently spearheading a new wave in the genre, Kaimera is bringing originality to a recently over saturated scene.

Aaron Brandford, also known by his artist name Sadfriendd, is a young artist who lives in a small town in Virginia. He started music after he lost his father last year. His family went through alot of financial issues so he used music to express his emotions. He grew up in an artistic family. His grandfather was deeply in love with music and inspired him to want to get into music from a young age. Sadfriendd lived in Virginia for most of his life but he will proudly say he is from Baltimore, Maryland. He’s the oldest of his siblings and lives with his single mother.

He always wanted to make music but he never really had any support so he was nervous to try it. Eventually, he learned how to mix and master his music and edit vocals and started making music in his bedroom. He mad music for sad people because he believes people mistake sadness and expression of feelings for a sign of weakness and a cry for attention.

His newest track “Le Soleil”, is a dedication song to his girlfriend that address society’s ill ways of viewing our self expressions of love.

Jordan Royale – Ear Bugz @jordanisroyale

East Coast based recording artist Jordan Royale presents the official video behind “Ear Bugz”.

An intoxicating introduction leads right into the hard hitting first line where Jordan Royale dispels the rumors some have levied to weigh him down. A trendsetter looking to make his way towards taking the crown from artists such as Eminem and MGK, Jordan Royale delivers edgy metaphors on his new single, “Ear Bugz”. The perfect title to describe the negative opinions of others infesting rather quickly, much like the egg case, an ootheca of a cockroach or related insect.

Visually, “Ear Bugz” is compelling. As the video opens up, we see an overlook glimpse of his hometown Reading, Pennsylvania and Jordan rapping in what looks like a room that came straight from Stephen King’s movie “1408,” when everything went haywire. We then cut to a club scene with pretty girls and a dragon mural, where Jordan dons a Hilfiger jacket showing us he can have his fun too. There is also a deeper gem here I found when it came to the fire scenes. Perhaps he is alluding at ridding all negativity? This is something a vast majority of us don’t know how to do ourselves.

“Ear Bugz” at its core is very much a “Haters” anthem but the subject matter in his verses and how he quickly switches to a sleek auto-tuned chorus will grab your attention rather quickly. In and out of flows, Jordan Royale keeps a dope pace as he prophesizes his imminent explosion into the mainstream Hip Hop market. The hook boasts “They gonna be talking that sh*t.” Agreed. “One ear and out the other,” Jordan even taps into the doubt that he has endured from those closest to him, family included. So much for battling social media huh? Not one to break, Jordan has used these points as motivation and has shared his art. He goes on to remind us that it is important to “Realize they don’t give us our credit.”
