jJ – PHASES @_CXXN_

0

“Phases” is the first song off jJ’s newest project, “lowercase”. “I been counting down the days, I been constantly counted out. I been going through these phases!”

The video uses a montage of vivid visuals that put together a story behind these lyrics that allow the viewers to understand the different phases jJ’s experienced in his journey so far.

Based in the east end of Toronto, Malvern, jJ is a 23 year old emcee and producer looking to change the stereotype of hip-hop while building the culture. His major influences and creative ideals stem from the first time he heard Jay-Z’s Black Album on his mother’s iPod Nano. From that point, his love for hiphop and its culture began to fester and take form. Thanks to his Jamaican & Memphis roots, jJ was able to immerse himself in the varieties of sound. His rhyme style of story telling came to fruition after taking influence from Kid Cudi – helping him understand that there is more than one way to deliver his message to his listeners.

His dedication led him to find more like-minded individuals who came to be *Wrong Crowd* – a group of friends in different fields working as a team in their city & culture and striving to be a prominent voice.

unEVL – Foreign @unevlmusic

0

unEVL (aka Sotaboy) is a 19 year old artist from Sarasota, Florida. Being that both of his parents come from an Amish background, most people wouldn’t expect unEVL to take in interest in making music, much less rapping. After spending 3-4 years making songs and learning how it’s done, he’s really starting to hit his stride now. unEVL also likes to throw in some Spanish bars here and there, using it just about every time he learns something new. This is just the beginning.

After spending 3-4 years making songs and learning how it’s done, he’s really starting to hit his stride now, and “Foreign” showcases that well. Produced by Kyle Stemberger, the song has a solid flow to it and brings some great bounce to the track. Accompanied by cleanly executed vocals and a quality video, “Foreign” really comes to life.

LONE – Whole New @SFMLONE

0

LONE is an ambitious up-and-coming artist out of Atlanta with a unique sound. His infectious lyrics are on full display with his latest single, “Whole New”.

The track catches the listener’s ear right out of the gates with an electronic beat, produced by Mexiko Dro, which is interspersed with LONE’s low key auto tuned vocals. The autobiographical lyrics are ferocious and antagonistic toward a woman with whom he had, shortly prior to recording, gotten into an ugly breakup. Listen to the new song on Soundcloud.

Martyn Kingsley drops “Real Life Rockstar” along with a press release explaining it in detail.

“Real Life Rockstar is the first song I’ve have recorded seriously and went to an actual studio. This song is about how rapping has impacted my life in a positive way. I talk about how when I was growing up I was kinda struggling with money and how when I use to talk to try and get girls they would just reject me, they would play around or literally would just ignore me instantly. Then when the music started to pull attention they started to show me more respect and attention. All of the songs I make have a meaning but I want people to be able to vibe to it or feel a certain way when they listen to my music.”

At First, Buckets was making music just for entertainment. Also when he was growing up he would freestyle all of the time since middle school throughout high school but he never decided to try and make an actual song because all of his friends and peers would tell him that rapping is not for him and he should stick to something else. So one day he decided to stop listening to people got bored and decided to record a song in the basement of his snowball blue mic. He didn’t even have a pop filter for his mic! He uploaded his first freestyle (Pe$os) and had it up on his SoundCloud for 20 days. Then 20 days later. It started to attract attention and the plays were going up rapidly.

Buckets then just watched and looked at how his song was getting lots of attention and attention. Then he decided to make another song “2 Glock$” to see if this was really real attraction coming in from the music and it amounted to over 3,000 plays. Then his friends and close friends told him that he should take on a music career. He was recording from his basement then when his close friend Jesse had a talk to him to start going to the studio. That’s when he decided that it was time for him to actually hit a studio and take the music seriously. Buckets also stated that: “My First month serious with the music was September of 2018 because that was the first time I put any type of money towards it.” The first song he has recorded in the studio and the 4th song he has ever released “Real Life Rockstar” released on October 24, 2018.

AGGY – Get Down @aggyxx

0

“Get Down” is a song AGGY made about all the people who think they’re better than you. Everyone thinks they have the upper-hand on you and can control your ship, when really you’re the only one who can master your sea. Whether it’s bullying, verbal abuse, physical abuse or just plain arrogance. Stand up to anyone and everyone causing you torment or pain in your life, rise above them; and tell them to Get Down on their MF’in knees for you.

AGGY started writing and recording music at the age of 13, using only a laptop and a cheap audio jack mic. He only recorded for about a year and then took a break to focus on school. During that time period he was still writing music everyday and had multiple notebooks filled with songs and ideas. Late 2016, a friend suggested making a song. Naturally, AGGY agreed. Together they went to Walmart, purchased a headset mic and downloaded a recording program. That night he made his first official song which started his career.

For the next year, AGGY taught himself how to use the program and made dozens of songs for his own pleasure in his room. It wasn’t until he felt he mastered the science of mixing, mastering, recording, and engineering; did he buy a professional mic and started dropping songs on Soundcloud in mid 2017. Since then, he has accumulated over 300 fans and 100k plays in total. Currently, he is making music every night and has an abundance of content in his email he has yet to release. He drops songs about every 2 week on Soundcloud, each one sounding better than the last.

AGGY stands out from others with his versatility and originality with every song he makes and proves his immense talent through his music. This is an artist you’re going to want to keep an eye on.

BLI – It’s A Beautiful Thing @BLIraps

I.A.B.T. features BLI’s single, “The Circle”. BLI recorded this in LA in Harvey Mason Jr’s studio while working with super production duo, The Wavys. For this particular track, no pen was needed. Upon hearing the bouncy bass forward up-tempo beat the song came right out of him. “The Circle” is best described as a bubbly party song that mixes the lyrical styles of Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and Meek Mill. The Circle fits in nicely to a regular DJ rotation of up-tempo hip-hop club bangers with a catchy hook and emphatic bridge that possesses a message about the sincerity of a tight knit friend group.

BLI (pronounced “Blee”) is a multi-talented artist born Alex Jay Blihovde September 2nd, 1993 in Nashville Tenessee. Nashville for all its musical clout still has a gaping hole in its own urban musical identity. Whether he’s dropping punch lines, telling a story, or singing a melody BLI captures the attention of all that are listening and therefore cementing Nashville’s urban identity. “It’s A Beautiful Thing” A/K/A “I.A.B.T.” BLI’s freshman EP is coated with his unique sound founded by his dusty Tennessee flow, from childhood inspired by 50 Cent, Drake, J Cole, Ace Hood, Kendrick Lamar, Russ, and Logic.

BLI needs to place no emphasis on showcasing his layered lyrical ability as lyrics driven music with fresh melodies are his way of creating a real connection to his listeners based on strong imagery and feeling. I.A.B.T. features production from 6x Grammy Winner Malik Yusef one of Kanye’s all-time most trusted collaborators. Kevin Randolph a multi-platinum producer most recently noted for his work with global star Logic. I.A.B.T. also includes production support from EDM monster Rain Man formally founder of Krewella as well as The Wavys whom recently produced for the Pitch Perfect movie series. Last but not least his own brother, J.BLI.
