Video: Play B – Jealousy
Bio For Play B:
Rapper “Play-B” was born Rian Mixon on January 31st 1989 on the south side of Chicago. At a young age Play-B witnessed things that most people never see in their lifetime, these events would later serve as the inspiration and back drop for the lyrics in his songs. Play-B got his 1st taste of hip hop from his uncle and his father who routinely blasted music from the likes of Tupac, Snoop Dogg, The Notorious B.I.G. and many more. The thought of rapping never even came to mind until the 7th grade when Play-B wrote a poem and realized that it sounded good to a beat. Ever since then he devoted his time to his music gaining notoriety in school talent shows and lunch room cyphers. Fast forward to college where he further displayed his originality and creativity by teaching himself how to make his own music videos before dropping out after 2 years to further pursue his dreams. In 2009 he inked an indie deal from a local record label but that situation quickly dissolved due to creative differences. It was then when Play-B realized that if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. He then decided it was time for a change of scenery so in the beginning of 2010 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona. It was in Phoenix where he released his debut mixtape online “Big Man On Campus” via his website LifeofaPlayboy.com in January of 2011. The mixtape was very well received and solidified Play-B’s instincts that he was destined to be a star. Play-B also released his follow up mixtape “The Real World Phoenix” on DatPiff.com in July of 2013 as well as putting out several videos and a short documentary that same year. Play-B is a self-made artist so even if you haven’t heard of him by now with his work ethic it won’t be long before he is a household name. He is scheduled to release his 3rd official mixtape entitled “Jealousy” sometime in early 2016.
*Fun Fact: Play-B is also an aspiring actor since the age of 4 and he even starred in a short independent film entitled “Faithfully” released on YouTube in the summer of 2014 and also had a number of his songs on the soundtrack for the film. Notably in the year 2010 he starred in an original stage play sponsored by Jesse Jackson Sr.’s Rainbow Push Coalition.
