Yaundre – Money To Be Made @LilPhib3s

Yaundre’s “Money To Be Made” is one of many stories from my earlier banging years. He imagined it would be something people could relate too. Without glorifying the gang life, even though it’s had such an impact on his life, it’s something he can’t ignore. Another example of the tug of war between good and evil. Doing something you think is good in your heart but bad in an exoteric point of view. It’s about a day in the neighborhood that could’ve went a whole lot worse then it turned out.

https://youtu.be/FyrtFjIMAVU

Yaundre is a spiritual goon with a mind ahead of his time ranking from a state of cultural pioneers. Dre finds himself in a constant battle between good and hood. Positive & Negative stereo types trying to find a perfect median for the two. Always fighting personal demons with positive energy. Hauling from Praire View, Texas. A small humble community with a huge reputation, Dre understands the weight he carries on his shoulders. By trying to save the people in the community who sees no other means of getting out the cycle. Described as the “Tornado Effect”, whenever someone tries to leave but something always brings them back, knowing there’s no good in the neighborhood. Musically Yaundre is inspired by the likes of Lil B, Young Thug, Kendrick Lamar, and Z-RO to name a few.

Colfax – Baby Lucas @datsfax

Check in as COlfax gets into the graphic details behind his latest audio drop, “Baby Lucas” from off the “Dying Just to Make a Living” album:

Baby Lucas was inspired because I’m half Mexican and African American. I’m actually first generation in my family. Growing up as a kid in Denver and transitioning out to Arizona. Baby Lucas is a Mexican candy that I would eat growing up. And when I had originally moved out to Phoenix from Denver, all the kids including were eating Baby Lucas and its something you had to put in your hand and you would lick your hand to eat the candy. For one I thought it was dope because I thought I was the only kid basically eating it. And then when I moved out here, it was essentially everywhere. It also correlated as I was growing up in regards to people I would actually see people hitting licks, people I knew getting jammed up, Dealing, etc. My music has substance and it really is influenced about everything I’ve experienced and how I came up.

“And the money made them ruthless, with they hands out getting more licks than Baby Lucas”.

It was catchy and I knew it was something that would reside real good on the ears and seeing that I really wanted to display that I am Hispanic as well. I thought it would be a perfect track and it was fun that anyone could really enjoy. You ask anyone now about Lucas and they will know. Also I was able to display Arizona and obviously that’s where I’m at currently living so I thought it was good to show the part of the city I actually stay around and everything that went around here.

Slater The Genius – Rose @slaterthegenius

0

Slater The Genius presents a visual for “Rose” off his debut EP, “Yensy’s Son”. The single is a message about finding growth and love in yourself before you start looking for love in others.

Slater compares his love and himself to a “Rose”. Meaning without good roots(a good home) and nourishment (love, sun, water) how could he ever grow, especially with someone else in the same situation as his. His lyrics shine and resonate as he explains how growing up in a broken home and an impoverished community how could he actually know what love. Yet throughout the track you fell his pain knowing it’s something he’s willing to fight for.

Slater gives us his most vulnerable track yet, and gives us insight on what it’s like to fall for someone your not yet ready to love. Or is it that they are not ready to love you. Either way love is pain and every Rose comes with thorns, so be careful when you try to pluck one, because in order for that love to never die, you’ll need Good Love, A Good Home, Good Sun, and Good Water.
