Dirashi – Denial @Dirashi_

0

Dirashi is a 22 year old hip hop recording artist from a town called Merrillville, IN. While he lives in Northwest Indiana, he still spends a lot of his time in both Chicago and the surrounding suburbs due to family and friends he has living in the area. His 90’s influenced nostalgic vibe has him also sometimes referring to himself as ‘Virtual Boy’ (a 1990’s virtual reality console created by Nintendo), due to the dark, sad, nonchalant melodies his music typically gravitates toward.

However, his sound isn’t just influenced by modern rap, but also rock and alternative. He stems his sound from the gritty atmosphere of punk rock while also keeping the hip hop element intact to create his own unique sound. Even though he gravitates more towards autotune and melody, he isn’t one to slack when it comes to bars. Indulge in his latest cutting edge single, “Denial”.

Denial is a single I wrote & recorded about my ex and me being on the receiving end of a break up which in turn leaves me in denial. The song is split into two parts covering two different sets of emotions. The first half is more melodic and primarily covers sadness and confusion, whereas the second half is more bars and covers arrogance and frustration.

The second half is basically me “feeling myself” trying to get over the sadness I experienced early on. You know how you can just act like nothing hurt you in an attempt to rebuild confidence? Yeah that. The transition was done well in my opinion and instantly drops you from the cloudy atmosphere the first half gave you into a more rugged gritty environment.

John Alone – Two Suns @_JOHNALONE

0

John Alone’s “Two Suns” is more than a pop song. It serves as a reflective celebration of a life that gives no real answers to the big questions. “Are we alone?”, “Is there a god?”, “Will anything ever work out?” The song gives no solutions to these queries, rather preferring to focus on the beauty of a world where nothing is promised, and hope is the only constant. Some days, dancing like there’s two suns is really all you can do, even when there’s nothing to dance about.

John Alone is a maverick. At 22 years old, he is fast approaching the height of his technical and musical prowess, handling the bulk of the sound engineering, recording, mixing and mastering on most of his releases, as well as dabbling in production. He has mastered a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from hip hop/ rap to Soul and alternative R&B and it is safe to say we will be hearing a lot more from this artist in the coming years.

Sai (差異) – Discharged @sinnersai

0

“Discharged” is Sai’s most recently released track. The song is based upon his experiences and encounters while institutionalized and the progression with his mental health leading up to being discharged. The song was written in the hospital and recorded on the day of his release.

Isaiah Denzel Aud (professionally known as Sai (差異)) is an american rapper, singer and songwriter from New Jersey. The subject matter of his music is inspired and centers around the struggles he’s learned to adapt to such as depression, bipolar disorder and other personal issues throughout his life. His name derives from the Japanese philosophy of “difference” which he holds dear to his purpose and art. With a small fan base, his potential is yet to have been noticed. But time and effort will tell.

Wise II – What You Want From Me @wisethesecond

Wise II releases his new self-produced single, ‘What You Want From Me’, in recognition of the weekend of love. Wise displays his versatility with this new record coming with a “hybrid R&B” vibe. Being his 7th single released in 6 months, Wise is now showing the cohesive sound he’s developed on his own.

As a solo artist, Wise II’s debut project “In The Midst Of It All” was premiered by FACTMAG summer of 2015. With each song self-written, self-arranged and executive produced by Supreme Cuts’ Mike Perry – In The Midst Of It All encompasses the pure talent and passion of the brewing underground artist. FACTMAG also premiered Wise’s directorial debut with a visual for the opening track, “Genesis”.

After having a successful breakout year releasing an project, and visuals between 2015-2016, Wise took some time to develop his production as well as build a catalog of records. Marcoof500 – Pesos @Marcoof500

0

“Marco The Merchant” is a nine-song affair from Marcoof500 that offers an exciting blend of stylistic elements with varying degrees of commercial viability and earworm appeal. With the release, he delivers “Pesos”.

While he uses a familiar formula on a number of the songs — that still manage to work — like the piano-driven “500k,” it’s when he puts his marketability on display that you get a full spectrum of his vision. “Pesos” is a definite standout, with an instrumental that sounds ripe for a YG feature. It’s one of the sole records that you could easily hear at the club, or within a mix show format, with its repetitive chorus that you’ll find yourself singing throughout your daily moves.

Another surprisingly flame emoji record is “Designer,” which we found ourselves returning to throughout the past week. Over the blown out bass of the lo-fi banger, he finds his footing and keeps the flow steady, with a razor-sharp barrage of bars that is perfectly encased by the soundscape.

With his label 500entertainmentllc and a track record of having toured as far as Japan, he’s clearly defined his lane and is keeping his overall aesthetic on the right track. Even when his material works harder to merely fit in with the wave, it manages to swim with the best of them — but when he’s hot, he’s hot. His journey is exciting to witness, and by intertwining it into his music, he’s giving his music not just a personal touch, but an inspirational gloss for a generation of new listeners and artists looking to see who ultimately floats to the top.

Crown La’trell – 13/The Hills @crownlatrell

0

Crown La’trell’s “13/The Hills” video was a project directed by Dizzy Dinero, produced by Veronika Latkina and Shot/edited by Dion Lynch.

The Concept displays Crown La’trell hanging out with his gang of friends doing what they do on a usual day. Smoking, Drinking, spray painting and being rowdy. La’trell then leaves friends and by a mysterious woman is given a unknown substance (pill). Crown wakes up in a random location with no recollection of how he got there and what took place the night before. While also seeing and being followed by a mysterious woman of which he doesn’t know is real or just an illusion.

Toronto artist by the name of Crown La’trell has a very hypnotic and scary, while soothing and Melo sound to his music. With a very distinct aesthetic from the rest. Not straying too far away from the dark sound known to his home city Toronto. Crown La’trell pulls from many influencers like Travis Scott, XxxTentacion, Lil Uzi Vert, The Weeknd and Chris Brown just to name a few. He started his music career off in 2016 with a mic and laptop in his room before upgrading to professional sounding studios.

La’trell has already released 2 full bodies of work as his latest “Floor 13” and his debut “B4 The Fame” back in 2017, helped him to gain some traction in the city. With songs like “Mention” and “Night show” off his debut Ep and “13” , “The Hills” and “Moon Pills” off his latest project, “Floor 13”.

Crown La’trell sonically creates very hypnotic, Melo and uptempo music that allows the listener to feel lost not only in his melodic vocals but in the creativity of his sound. When it comes to Crown La’trell you never know what you’ll get next. Which leaves his listeners craving/anticipating for more of his dark twisted melodic sounds.

0

‘Smoke Rise’ is a sentimental song that reminisces upon lost love. Cub-J wrote this song from the perspective of his good friend whose girlfriend passed away in a car crash. Despite its undertones of mourning and death, the song is written in a manner in which it can relate to anyone who’s lost a loved one regardless of the cause. The chorus vocals and bass are done by Rub N’ Alc, a Chicago R&B/Soul duo with whom Cub-J frequently collaborates. The beat is produced by Jab, Brooklyn native. The song drops Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2019 with a video shot, edited and directed by Chicago’s Paul Araki Elliot.
