Cyr The Don – U @crookedcitydon

0

The video to “U” is a honest and open look at the realities of love. It’s not always easy. Cyr The Don wrote this song as a homage to his true love and mother to his only child. It refers to the difficulties of love in the age of social media. The opening line, “they try to tell me about it but yea I know the game, wouldnt’ve came this far without it cold terrain,” refers to the way social media has made it easier than ever to cheat, it’s only a DM away nowadays. More so the song is about love and second chances. The video perfectly frames a day In the life of a young couple in love. Arguments, making love, going out to have a little fun, and dance the night away, it’s an honest and open look into the lives of two people in love.

An artist, designer, and musician, Cyr The Don has spent the last fifteen years honing his writing and recording skills. Long before he ever discovered his passion for music, though, he felt inside himself a drive to create art. He started out painting and drawing as soon as he was old enough to hold a paintbrush and a pencil and never stopped or even slowed down. When he is creating, that is when he is most at ease with the world. He takes in everything that he sees and then looks for ways to express himself completely and clearly on the canvas or paper at hand. That moment between thought and action, he lives for those moments.

Back when Albert was in school, he would skip most of his classes and hide away in the art room. He was fortunate enough to have a teacher who supported his endeavors, and she said that as long as he showed up to school, she would never tell anyone what he was up to. Looking back, he can’t help but laugh at the long hours he spent in his school’s art room, and there is no denying what an impact those hours had on him. Winning a congressional award for his artwork in high school, earning a feature in the local newspaper, earning inclusion in the Art Museum of South Texas: these experiences were formative and encouraging for him as well.

As a musician, he has opened for some of the most well-known acts in rap, hip-hop, and r&b, allover the state of Texas, accumulating a following through appearances on radio, online (Spotify, iTunes, Tidal etc.) and word-of-mouth. Mendez was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, and although Texas will always be home for him, he is viewing himself more and more as a citizen and artist of the world. He pours all his energy and resources into his career, working hard to stay ahead of the curve and to continue to come up with fresh ideas. A single father, he tries to instill a good work ethic and lead by example.

His upcoming project, Don Fresh, will be the most exciting of his career, further building upon the rap/hip-hop/r&b style that has become his trademark.

ZZ Ft 24kgoldn – FLIP @zefaankanwar

0

The 24kgoldn featured “FLIP” is a song from ZZ’s second project, “TRAP NURSERY RHYMES”. It is easily one of the catchiest and most replayable songs on the album.

ZZ was born in Scottsdale, Arizona on 2nd July, 2000 but was brought up in New Delhi, India for all of his life. He attended a local Indian school till 5th grade then shifted to an American international school. He met people from all around the world which really opened up his mind to noticing the similarities and differences between people with extremely different backgrounds. ZZ believes that lots of kids in India don’t have this privilege and are stuck in the system. They are judged by society and held back by their parents. This makes them afraid to do what they want.

ZZ want to give those kids the hope that they can do what they want in life and still succeed, because he moved to LA in August, 2018, straight from New Delhi, India, and he’s been working on new music EVERY DAY and no one is stopping him. No one CAN stop him. He represents the youth who want to get their voices heard, the future.

Legend – Might Just!

0

Legend delivers the official video for his standout single, “Might Just!”, off his debut EP, “CONFIDENCE”.

Not interested in fitting into a generic mold, Legend is crafting a definitive sound that is leaving a lasting impression on his listeners. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Legend currently resides in Atlanta, GA where he is proving to be a breath of fresh air in today’s music industry. Taking note from some of his early musical influences, Legend utilizes his story as a source of inspiration for his fan base. Whether it’s showcasing his pain, providing transparency on his dealings with women, or stressing the importance of hustle, grind, and ownership, relatability rings true in his music. The meshing of his melodic flows and his sincere accounts of powerful realities serves to create timeless music.

Aiming to inspire, Legend does not succumb to his own self-doubt and the negativity of those around him. Knowing that he always had a passion to pursue music, he decided that it was time to leave home and head to Atlanta to make his mark. Though Legend is a relativity new artist, the maturity of his work would lead one to believe otherwise. His intriguing wordplay and his ability to evoke a range of emotions makes it hard to believe that he has just recently stepped onto the music scene.

Given the reception he has received from fans for his two EPs, “CONFIDENCE” and “PASSION”, Legend is showing that he has every intent of living up to his name.

Kertasy – You See Me@KERTASY

0

“You See Me” is the lead single off of Kertasy’s new EP releasing in 2019. This record is about coming up, changing from a bad situation to a better one while the video reflects on being careful of the choices you make to get in a better situation. It may not always be the right one. The motion picturesque flick keeps the audience glued in from beginning to end.

There is an old adage which states: “The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.” In an industry which killed more dreams than brought them to reality, this saying is a mantra recording artist, Kertasy, not only believes in but follows. Stemming from New Jersey’s northern city, Elizabeth, his passion for Hip-Hop was first rooted from a seed formed in the sixth grade. Specifically during his black history month talent show in music school. Understanding the historical culture connected to Hip Hop he studied performers such as Jay-Z, Biggie, Mase, and Fabolous. Since discovering his gift that day he has developed and maintained a positive work ethic which consistently elevates him to new heights. He chose the name Kertasy because it reflected his mannerisms towards the females. It’s also a metaphor of how “nice” he is in everything he does musically.

In 2002, Kertasy relocated to Chicago, Illinois to work with an indie label in hopes of creating new music and developing his sound. It was in Chicago where he met legendary R&B singer, R.Kelly who decided to mentor Kertasy; assuring him that he would assist the rapper in the launch of his debut project. Unfortunately, after a series of mistrials and events, R.Kelly’s ability to pursue his agenda prolonged. He was sent back to New Jersey but with a new mindset; ready to push his career with no more hold backs.

Since then, Kertasy has opened for acts such as Eve, Benzino, Lil Kim, Sean Paul to name a few. His first tour was the “VIBE Magazine College Tour” which consisted of talented acts such as Amanda Seales, Juelz Santana, Biz Markie, and other notable talents. He has been a featured actor, with a lead role in DJ Khalid’s ‘Never Surrender’ video feat. Scarface, Jadakiss, Meek Mill, Akon, John Legend & Anthony Hamilton. Kertasy has worked on two well-developed projects called “Just Out Of Kertasy” and “Kertasy Of”. In 2010 he created brand, Lead Team. An indie label & merchandise line with a message of pursuing all visions & goals and being your own leader in the music industry. His single, “You See Me” went viral worldwide after a dance challenge was created on the popular app platform Musical.ly.

The pitfalls of the industry do not scare Kertasy, mainly because his passion for music and the ability to create it overpowers any obstacles that are placed in his way. He makes music for the essence. He makes music for the passion inside him and the enjoyment of others. Most recently he signed to artist agency, Mor.Value and is expected to release a new EP and visual January 2019. Kertasy is currently focusing on touring within the states and across major global cities with hopes of intruding his sound to new audiences.

nöel – call me @forgetnoel

0

‘call me’ from singer nöel is about being someone’s escape. You’re not their norm. To be honest, this probably shouldn’t even be happening between each other. Yet they are and now are invading your thoughts as well.

Growing up in Washington Heights, New York, nöel gravitated to music luminaries like Pharrell and Marc Anthony. A combination of his Honduran upbringing and hip-hop aesthetics, nöel’s sound – one he describes as “ominous but fun” – resonates in such a way that it stands as a response to the dearth of Latinos in R&B. The singer-songwriter and producer (who eerily sounds a lot like The Weeknd) looks to change the contemporary R&B narrative by introducing his Latino flair. nöel and his team, chosen children, are excited to share the perspective of 2nd generation Hispanic-Americans who soley want to preach honesty, love and smoking lots of weed.

Verse – Pressed! @Verse199x

0

Verse pours his heart out to his significant other about how she can do nothing at all and still have her opposition “Pressed!”.

Verse is a 19 year old artist from Fayetville, North Carolina. He’s been making music since elemantry school and working on perfecting his craft since then. His time in North Carolina was rough as an artist when getting other to listen to his music but he made it happen by passing out mixtapes and getting his name around school. When he moved to Austin, Texas in 2014 he made sure he made his mark and let it be known that he’s a rapper and wants to take this somewhere bigger.

He started by freestyling in class and classmates would record him and share him around. Jokingly classmates would ask, “When’s the tape dropping?”, but Verse took this as the chance to start working on a new project and get his name around school. It was a success and the rest of his high school years he participated in talent shows and continued making projects and promoting his craft. His recent music compared to when he first started shows exactly how dedicated this young teen is about his music career.
