Wiley from Atlanta – Pink Skies (demo001) @wileyatl

0

“demo 001” is the first installment of the demo series brought to you by Wiley from Atlanta. Each installment will feature a demo recording as well as a live demo of the featured song. “demo 001” features “Pink Skies”, a song that has been a staple of Wiley From Atlanta’s live show for sometime. The purpose of the series is to give listeners a peak into the creative process for Wiley.

Wiley from Atlanta is an American musician born and raised in Atlanta, GA. He makes his music in different bedrooms around town, and performs in different living rooms, basements and DIY venues. He made it his mission to play as many shows as possible last year, sometimes playing multiple shows in one night. There is two parts of Wiley, half of him embodied by the construction of his songs in the bedroom. The other half an of him resides on stage fronting his band and performing rousing interpretations of his often introspective songs. Both sides are important to him, and moving forward he will be putting both sides forward, refusing to be put in a corner.

At his core Wiley from Atlanta is a writer, spending his spare moments writing music, screen plays and poetry. He fell in love with music through his love for writing, always valuing the writing of a song over all else. His music is visual, it’s easy to see the scenes he sings about. At the ripe age of 21 years old, Wiley has displayed wisdom beyond his years, he draws inspiration across the gamut from Billy Bragg’s vocal style to Andre’ 3000’s word play. Drawing on his inspiration to try to create his own version of timeless music. His voice helps with this, his vocal tone is timeless. He could sing the blues if that was what he wanted, and some of his songs borrow heavily from those sounds.

Above all else Wiley from Atlanta makes the music that represents him, he is conflicted as many of us are. Drawing influenced from the music of his parents generation, and from his contemporaries in Atlanta. Wiley would be the first to tell you though that his greatest inspiration comes from the city of Atlanta, as a member of the burgeoning underground music scene performing and collaborating with the all the great artists the world has yet to recognize.

Atlanta is a point of pride for Wiley, he carries it as a part of his name and takes it very seriously. His mission is to shine a light on the vast underground music scene that brings him such inspiration. He is one of many working to redefine the way the world thinks of Atlanta. Like many of the Atlanta music scene Wiley is ready to leave the bedrooms where his music was made, and the living rooms and basements where he has performed and reach a national stage. Finishing his first tour, and playing shows at SXSW, One MusicFest and A3C have helped Wiley realize there is no better time to step onto the national scene.

Jano Banks is someone to keep your eyes on, period. 18 years old, but having a voice similar to platinum recording artists, it is not hard to see why Banks is on our radar, and why he should definitely be on yours too. Stay tuned for more releases, as he develops his discography even further.

When asked about his new song, “Lose It”, he had this to say:

“Lose It” explains the feeling you get when you see a girl for the first time, when you get in a relationship with her and when you start having problems. This song covers all these aspects, in a uptempo, pop style, laced with clean vocals.

Check out “Lose It” from Jano Banks on Soundcloud.

Young Fresh – No Clout @YoungFreshQN

Young Fresh’s “No Clout” is a straight banger. The modern 2018 trap vibe and Hard 808z make the beat an absolute power house. Young Fresh Provides energetic vocals that accompany the bouncing beat very well. Fresh also approaches from a slightly different perspective rather than flaunting what he has, he would rather point out what he is looking forward to in the future. The trippy vibe to the video makes the track all the more lively and exciting. A Feel That really makes you want head bang.

BLVC SVND x OMA – Cash Now @blvcsvnd

0

BLVC SVND and OMA construct the superb rap tag team as the duo demands their “Cash Now” over a haunting beat from BLVC himself.

Solo Artist Award Finalist, One who May Ascend (OMA), arrived on this planet in Madison, Tennessee in June, 1994. Raised in Tennessee, New York, and Texas, OMA’s style is – to say the least – unique. With intricate lyrical content and concepts that can only be explained by some level of divine intervention, OMA has many titles, among them: leader, lyricist, martial artist, entrepreneur, underdog, and philosopher, but above all, he is a human being.

In the beginning of his musical career, OMA was unfamiliar with rap sensations such as Tupac Shakur, Biggie, Nas, Jay Z, or Eminem, but after hearing an exhibition from one of the local rap artists, OMA developed a keenness for poetry in its rhythmic form. OMA saw emcees as people of struggle, people with unique life experience – not unlike his own condition – relating their stories and those experiences to the rest of the world. OMA greatly admired their skill, openness, and bravery in which they shared their lives and ideas to an imperfect world. Intrigued, the teenager delved into the world of hip-hop, and in doing so, he discovered a newfound peace which he had never known in expressing himself through his music – without limitations, and without restrictions, and for the first time, without fear.

Finding sanction in a new world of creativity, One who May Ascend’s music harbors the same essential principles instilled in him at an early age such as: perseverance, excellence, self-awareness, as well as his less pleasant personal experiences; such as feeling lost, empty, and at times, hopelessness, all in attempt to educate the global community of the human race’s inter-connections in hopes of a better tomorrow.

Lauren Presley – Sleepless @LaurenPresley2

0

Lauren Presley’s “Sleepless” has 6 songs all about broken relationships. Each song has a different aspect to it, and is at different points either in a relationship or after it ends. It’s the story of heartbreak and the process of moving on.

Growing up in a small town in Texas, there wasn’t much opportunity. At 12, Lauren uploaded videos on YouTube of her performing cover songs. A TV production company found her videos and wanted to cast her for a TV show called ‘Chasing Nashville’ about four girls trying to make a name for themselves in Nashville. She made the cuts, her mom quit her teaching job, and they hit the road to Nashville to film for the show.

After months of filming, unfortunately the show didn’t get renewed after the first season. Although, she ended up staying in Nashville to work on her career. The past six years have been busy with co writes, meeting new people, performing live, and finishing high school. At 18, Lauren released her first single, “You and Me”, in May 2018. She followed with her first EP, “Sleepless” in August.

All her songs on the EP dives deep into heartbreak and broken relationships. As she believes music is a coping mechanism for hurt, she hopes her honesty in these lyrics will relate to others; while still having a feel good vibe.
